Thruway Authority Announces Westbound Delays Between Interchange 39 and Interchange 40 Due to Pavement Project
The New York State Thruway Authority has announced that there is a six-mile backup due to a pavement project westbound between Interchange 39 (State Fair/Rt. 690) and Interchange 40 (Weedsport).
Motorists traveling in this area should plan for delays and watch for slow or stopped traffic. Motorists traveling westbound may wish to seek alternate routes. To avoid the area, motorists may want to consider exiting the Thruway at Interchange 39 and take Route 690 North to Route 31 West to Interchange 40 in Weedsport.
The Authority has dispatched advance warning trucks to the area as well as activated Dynamic Message Signs (DMS) and Highway Advisory Radio (HAR) - 1620 Syracuse, 540 Utica to warn motorists of the delays. The Authority has also issued a TRANSalert to subscribers.
