New York State Thruway Authority Announces Road Closures Along I-84
Eastbound and Westbound Traffic Affected
The New York State Thruway Authority has announced that winter weather conditions and multiple accidents have caused closures and accidents along I-84 westbound and eastbound.
The Authority has been notified by Pike County, Pennsylvania authorities that I-84 in Pennsylvania are currently closed due to winter weather conditions. Due to the conditions in Pennsylvania, motorists traveling I-84 westbound in New York are advised that I-84 is closed at the New York / Pennsylvania State Line.
The Authority has activated a Dynamic Message Sign along I-84 westbound to alert motorists of the Pennsylvania road closure.
Additionally, I-84 eastbound in New York is closed at milepost 3.9, just west of Exit 2 (Mountain Road), due to numerous accidents. At this time, all eastbound lanes are blocked.
There is another accident along I-84 eastbound at milepost 0.1 which has the right lane blocked.
State Police, maintenance and emergency crews are on the scenes at this time. All lanes will be reopened as soon as conditions safely permit.
The Authority has issued TRANSalerts to subscribers advising them of conditions along I-84.
The Authority offers a free email service called TRANSalert to its customers via email or text messaging to inform them of major unscheduled incidents that may affect their travel on the Thruway.
